St. Francis College of Education, Hohoe, is a renowned public Catholic institution of higher learning specializing in teacher education in the Volta Region of Ghana. The College is Affiliated with the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and has been a pillar of teacher education since its inception. Applications are invited from qualified and interested persons for consideration for the position of Principal.

 

PRINCIPAL

The Key Responsibilities of the Principal shall include:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the College.
  • Oversee academic, administrative, and financial operations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality teaching and learning programs.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, students, and the community.
  • Exhibit a high sense of industry, leadership qualities, and organizational skills, and be above reproach.
  • Attract grants and funds for Research and Development activities for the College.
  • Uphold the College’s reputation and standards of excellence in education.

 

Qualification and Experience:

The candidate must:

  • Be a distinguished Scholar and a master teacher
  • Have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or equivalent qualification in the relevant area of specialization.
  • Be of a rank NOT below Associate Professor in a College of Education or in a university or an analogous institution.
  • Have at least 10 years of progressive experience in teaching and/or research, including at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.
  • Have proven leadership skills and be a team player.
  • Can provide confidence as well as direct and motivate staff.
  • Possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills, capacity to manage and control crises.
  • Be able to give sound and impartial judgement.
  • Have proven ability to lead a team and manage resources effectively.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the educational landscape and the vision of Ghana’s educational goals.

Terms of Appointment:

  • Must not be more than 55 years at the time of application.
  • Salaries and conditions of service are attractive and comparable to similar positions in Ghana.
  • The appointment shall be for an initial period of four (4) years and may be renewed for another term only.
