St. Francis College of Education, “hill of knowledge”, “hill of learning”, has exhibited another remarkable act of excellence, but this time not in academics but in an exceptional performance by the sports men and women at the recent Volta -Oti Zonal intercollegiate sports festival held in Dambai.
The college participated in nine games, athletics and cross country. The nine games included, Table Tennis – men and women; Volley Ball- men and women, Hand Ball; men and women, Soccer -men and women and hand ball.
The amazing thing about their sterling performance was their ability to qualify for the semi-finals in all the 9 games. The sports men and women performed with a high spirit of determination to win gold for all the games. Incredibly, they equally qualified in seven games for the finals. This was a great achievement because not every college could reach the final stage with seven games.
Even though their aspirations were not totally met during the finals, they still emerged with numerous wins.
They had first position in Table Tennis, Women Volley Ball, Women Soccer, and Women Handball and also Men Cross Country. They also emerged second in Men Volley ball and Women Net Ball and finally had 3rd position in Men Soccer and Men Handball.
