The 16th matriculation ceremony of fresh student was held on May 12, 2023.
The Special Guest, Professor James Flolu, Former Principal of the College of Technology, Kumasi, now Akenten Appiah-Menka University for Skills, Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED) indicated that the students must be proud to be getting ready to take a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Cape Coast, after their four-year experience. He further explained that a university takes custody of the human resource brain of any country and as students they were being prepared to take custody of their brain. According to the Professor, it is the mind of the university that informs the development of policies and that is why countries are proud of their universities. “By taking first degree, students are involved in special knowledge and skills, and this will make them trainable persons in any career in the future” he added.
Dr. Adwoa Kwegyiriba, Principal, St. Francis College of Education noted that out of 310 admitted students, 295 opted for the JHS Education Programme representing 95.16% and 15 students for the Primary Education representing 4.83%.
She was however excited to announce a total number of 160 female students’ enrollment which satisfies the College’s objective of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Strategic Plan of Gender Parity Attainment of 50:50 in the 2022/2023 Academic Year.
Dr. Adwoa admonished the fresh students to study hard, be punctual and regular for all lectures, take part in all class exercises, discussions, and projects. Additionally, she entreated them to manage their time appropriately in order to balance academic work with extracurricular activities and always think critically and constructively so as to add value to themselves.
Dr. Adwoa and her team are poised to improve the infrastructure of the College into a state-of-the-art College of Education.
