At the early morning mass on 8th May to celebrate and thank God for his faithfulness upon her life, she was given the EXAMPLARY WOMAN AWARD by the female staff of the Franco community. This was conferred on her because of her concern and involvement in female related issues and her quest to always make sure that females are given support and space in society to function.  Her strong desire is to empower women to function properly in their various roles and not to look down on themselves.

At Franco, Dr. Adwoa formed the movement, “LADIES IN STEM”. This movement is to help female trainees engage in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities so that they can serve as role models for females to choose STEM courses at the basic and secondary levels. Dr. Adwoa also engages the female staff in Franco on research and other topical issues where the ladies meet on zoom in some evenings for discussions.

She is also very passionate and involved in women activities such as “The International Women’s Day”. “International Day of the Girl Child”. “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”, among others.

She has been deeply involved in the activities of the association of Dress Makers and hair dresses in the Hohoe community. She chaired most of their ceremonies and served as source of motivation to the women in the two associations.

Before now, Dr. Adwoa organized and facilitated several capacity-building training programs for women. This included her facilitation in DAAD National Workshop for Women in Science (March 2019), the National Workshop for Women in Technical Education and Development (WITED) at Koforidua (June 2018), and the National Workshop in TVET for Sustainable Development in Ghana, Koforidua, Ghana (June 2018). Dr. Adwoa Kwegyiriba is the National Director of Research for Women in Technical Education.

While in China for her PHD She also founded the Women of Wuhan (WOW) where they had a breakfast meeting every month and each member paid 25 Yuan extra to support needy children.

Dr. Adwoa has great respect for men and believes that their support for women is highly needed to make women achieve their goals. She believes in the culture of respect and acknowledgment of men in society.
